Sea Pines Plantation Hilton Head Island, SC

Sea Pines Plantation | Real Estate | Hilton Head

Introduction to the Area

The very first plantation community to be developed on the island, Sea Pines is home to some of the most attractive pieces of property in all of Hilton Head. Residents and property owners will be able to enjoy the low country lifestyle across the resort.

An established community with very active neighbors, everything about Sea Pines revolves around the best that Hilton Head living has to offer. At the southernmost point on the island, the views here are spectacular.

Combine that with the 605 acres of the nature reserve and the amazing golf courses in the community, and you’re talking about a community quite unlike any other you’ll come across.

Types of Property Available

As mentioned above, the community of Sea Pines is very much an established one.

The first plantation on the island to be transformed into a residential community, it was first formed in the early 1950s but didn’t really explode into the full-blown resort that it is today until the 1960s. Since then it’s become a premium destination for people all over the US as well as the world.

The homes here are stunning, with a very Southern style about them. Think open porches with ceiling fans, and perfectly manicured lawns to boot. There are properties still available for sale to build upon, as well.

The Sea Pines Community

The largest of all the different communities on Hilton Head, Sea Pines is not only home to world-class golf courses (including the PGA Tour’s Verizon Heritage course the Harbour Town Golf Links), but also two different marinas, four miles of beaches, and the Sea Pines Racquet Club.

All of these special amenities help to contribute to a community that leads a very active lifestyle while still enjoying a slower, low county kind of day today.

Local History

As we touched upon earlier, Sea Pines was the original plantation on Hilton Head to be converted to a residential resort. It was established by Charles Fraser back in 1956 and was designed to capture the small town feel that was disappearing across South Carolina in the 50s.

The lighthouse was added in 1969 (now a major landmark), and the history of the plantation continues to be written every day by her residents.

Here’s What Makes Sea Pines So Special

The Sea Pines Racquet Club is home to some of the best tennis players on the planet while they train, but the Lawton Stables Equestrian Center is another “must visit” destination on the resort.
